the act of making something better; to improve

EATING DISORDER
RECOVERY IS HARD.

When I was thirteen, bulimia wasn't a word to me—just a repeated action followed by shame and self-loathing. For two years, I had no one to talk to. I didn't even know what an eating disorder was. I watched it destroy my self-esteem, constantly waiting for a finish line that never arrived, where I'd be thin "enough," pretty "enough."

Eating disorders impact more than 28.8 million Americans yearly, with severe psychological and physical repercussions. These numbers rise exponentially among teenagers and young adults, a value increasing at an alarming rate. Today, people have more direct access to unrealistic beauty standards than ever before, yet there's still a profound lack of awareness and support.

At Amealiore, we combine two things I wish I'd had access to: resources and guided care.

Our social media and podcast use storytelling, community building, and resource sharing to educate and destigmatize conversations about body image.

Our app includes features like
journaling, goal orientation, mood and behavior tracking, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to make your journey through the recovery process as smooth as possible.

By equipping people with the tools to understand and navigate body dysmorphia, we aim to create a safer, more encouraging, and less isolating path to your complete amealioration â™¡

Non-linear and turbulent,

In my journey through eating disorder recovery, I associated my experience with being trapped in a whirlpool. I felt endlessly caught in repetitive thought cycles, unable to enjoy a meal without scrutinizing its impact on my body. It seemed futile to attempt to escape.

Amealiore's mission is to guide individuals through the whirlpool of recovery towards the hope and new beginnings symbolized by the daffodil, one of the first flowers of spring.

The daffodil, also known as the Narcissus flower, is named after the myth of Echo and Narcissus from Ovid's Metamorphoses. In this legend, Narcissus, enamored with his own reflection, is transformed into a flower after rejecting the nymph Echo. Today, the flower is often found near riverbanks.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) impairs one's ability to perceive their own appearance accurately, causing significant distress or an obsessive need to check one's reflection.

At Amealiore, we aspire to help you transform your relationship with self-image, guiding you from distress to self-love. Our goal is for you to look at your reflection and learn to love yourself once again.
